Co-founding member of the Atlanta Rhythm Section, Rodney Justo, rejoined the band in 2011 as a full-time member since parting the band in the early 1970's.  The lead singer sits down with award-winning program director Ray White in June of 2018 to talk about the bands' formation and happenings with the current line-up. Vertical Horizon launched in 1991 at Georgetown University in Washington, DC.  Hitting it big with their double platinum album "Everything You Want" in 1999, 4 songs landed on the music charts.  Co-founder and lead singer Matt Scannell joins award-winning program director Ray White backstage, in July of 2012, to talk about the history of the band and their "Burning The Days" CD.  Their latest release is titled "The Lost Mile." Formed in 1993, Sister Hazel band members have remained the same since.  They've had 7 songs make the music charts throughout the years.  These songs landed on diverse charts including Billboard Hot 100, Alternative, Mainstream Rock, Adult Top 40 and Adult Contemporary.  In our September of 2014 interview, award-winning program director Ray White talks with the bands' lead vocalist Ken Block about their Heartland Highway album and the Jacksonville, FL influences that helped to shape the band.  Their latest EP album is titled Wind.  In our "spotlight segment," we feature Heart's lead vocalist Ann Wilson whose latest solo album is Immortal.

The legendary brothers Johnny and Donnie Van Zant join us on a good ole Southern Rock show.  Johnny took over from his late brother Ronnie as the frontman of Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1987, while Donnie was a co-founder of .38 Special back in 1974.  With albums together as Van Zant, they added to the family legacy with dynamic Southern Rock and Country tunes.  The brothers hooked up with award-winning program director Ray White in July of 2016 to talk about their latest album Red, White and Blue (Live) and the current status with their legendary bands.  Up until his passing on October 2, 2017, Tom Petty was one of the most revered rock stars on Earth.  His legacy lives on as he's featured in our "Showcase Segment." Tom's recent posthumous release is titled An American Treasure.

The BoDeans have been going strong since forming in the mid-1980's.  Over a half dozen tunes have landed on the music charts and they have built a loyal fan base throughout the years.  In 1987, a Rolling Stone magazine readers poll tapped the BoDeans as the Best New American Band.  Award-winning program director, Ray White, catches up with BoDean's frontman Kurt Newmann in May of 2018, to talk about their latest album - Thirteen, and about working with some of the top recording producers in the industry.  In our "showcase segment" we feature the long-time singer for Journey - Steve Perry, who's released his first solo album in nearly 25 years titled Traces. Ed Toth (Doobie Brothers) and Keith Howland (Chicago) spent time hanging out as their bands toured together, throughout the years.  Living in the Nashville area, they formed Button with the Doobie's John Cowan.  Their music, in this new endeavor, leans towards progressive rock and expands the traditional recorded music horizons that they've been know for throughout the years.  Ed joined award-winning program director Ray White in the Summer of 2017, as the Button project was nearing completion, and Keith sat down with Ray during the Summer of 2018, after the albums release, to talk about the unique project.  Multi-platinum recording artist Kansas is featured in our "showcase segment."  Check out our website at http://www.classicartiststoday.com for more information about our shows.

Mark Andes legacy in the rock and roll music industry continues to grow as he joins award-winning program director Ray White in this June of 2018 interview about his latest work with Firefall.  The band has just released it's first studio recording in 24 years, with a group that reunites Mark and original members Jock Bartley and Dave Muse.  A new rendering of Spirit's Nature's Way is a superb song and features Timothy B. One of Folk/Rock's leading performers is Shawn Phillips.  His career was launched in the 1960's playing the folk circuit and hooking up with Joni Mitchell, Tim Hardin and Donovan.  Shawn's worked with numerous world-class musicians including Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, George Harrison and Bernie Taupin, throughout his career.  The late rock concert promoter, Bill Graham, called Shawn, "the best kept secret in the music business."  Classic Artists Today's Ray White talks with Shawn about his latest album, Continuance, and about his early years with Donovan.  In our showcase segment, we'll highlight Paul McCartney's latest release - Egypt Station.

Founded in 1975, The Motels were at the forefront of New Wave music in the late 1970's and 1980's.  Lead singer, Martha Davis provided the band with a sultry style that drew a passionate following.  Throughout their career, the band hit worldwide charts with their songs, over 15 times.  Award-winning program director Ray White caught up with Martha before her show in August of 2015 who shared her personal thoughts about making her Beautiful Life album and new projects of the horizon.  The Motels latest album - The Last Few Beautiful Days, is reminiscent of the sound that launched them to stardom.  In our Showcase Segment, Steppenwolf celebrates 50 years in the music business with the release of a new box set including several unreleased songs from the vault.  For more information about our show, visit http://www.classicartiststoday.com

Tommy Castro crosses the boundaries of Blues, Rock and R&B music as the leader of his own band since the early 1990's.  He launched his career as a member of Warner Brothers' artists The Dynatones, in the late 1980's.  Winning the 2008 Blues Music Award for Entertainer of the Year, Tommy's won numerous other awards and has played with many legends including B.B. King and John Lee Hooker.  In our April of 2018 interview, Tommy talks with Classic Artists Today's Ray White about his latest album with his band The Painkillers - Stompin' Ground, touring with B.B. Gary Wright helped to establish the synthesizer as a leading instrument in rock and pop music in the mid 1970's.  Before launching his solo career, he was an original member of Spooky Tooth with other musicians that went on to play with Foreigner, Humble Pie, and Mott The Hoople.  Throughout his career, Gary played with others including his friend, George Harrison.  Gary's career reached its pinnacle in 1975 with his The Dream Weaver album, which had two singles reach #2 on the charts.  In October of 2010, Classic Artists Today's Ray White talked with Gary about his latest solo album - Connected, along with highlights from his early years.  Gary re-released his 1972 album with Wonderwall titled Ring Of Changes, in the summer of 2016.  In our Spotlight Segment, we feature Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Van Morrison, whose two 2017 albums were Roll With The Punches and Versatile.  Learn more about our show at http://www.classicartiststoday.com
