Founded in 1972, Orleans were popular in the mid-to-late 1970's when 9 of their songs charted - 2 earning them Gold records.  With over 12 studio albums, the band continues today led by original member Lance Hoppen.  Multi-award winning program director Ray White caught up with Lance, before the bands show in August 2019, to talk about the paradigm shift that Orleans has experienced with the passing of his brother Larry and the retirement of John Hall.  He also fills us in on the new band members and the recording of their latest effort - No More Than You Can Handle along with his first solo effort - Conjuring.  Still going strong after forming 55 years ago, we also feature the latest from The Who, who just released Who.  Closing out the year, and decade, Classic Artists Today brings you the latest music news and more from many of your favorite legacy bands. 

Mark Wenner, The Nighthawks founder, harpmaster and singer, has been a mainstay in blues and roots music since forming the band in 1972.  Throughout the bands' career, they have been tapped for numerous blues awards.  The CAT's executive producer and host Ray White caught up with Mark backstage before his show in July of 2019 to talk about several of the bands highlights and about their latest release All You Gotta Do.  In our "showcase segment" we look back at the career of the legendary drummer Ginger Baker.  He co-founded rock's first super group - Cream, and went on to play in Blind Faith, before launching Ginger Baker's Air Force and delving into world music.  Ginger passed away on October 6, 2019.  Boogie, Blues and Drums... the best on Classic Artists Today's Sittin' In With The CAT!

Grammy winner Jim Peterik has been a force in popular music for over 55 years.  Starting with the band The Ides of March, he's been cranking out the hits since the album Vehicle.  His mark has not only been made as a vocalist, guitarist and keyboardist, but a songwriter who has co-written songs for numerous other bands.  In the late 1970's, Jim was co-founder of Survivor.  Today he keeps a full schedule still performing with The Ides of March and with his other bands World Stage and Pride of Lions.  Award-winning program director Ray White talks with Jim about his illustrious career.  His latest projects are Play On, Winds of Change and Fearless.  In our showcase segment, we feature Jeff Lynne's ELO, today's version of Electric Light Orchestra that Jeff co-founded in 1970.  His brand new release is From Out of Nowhere.  From the 1960's until today, we take you on a ride like no other, on Classic Artists Today!

English rock guitarist Shane Fontayne , hit the international music scene in 1980 on an album by Steve Forbert.  Since then he has recorded and/or toured with Joe Cocker, Richard Marx, Marc Cohn, Graham Nash, David Crosby and Crosby Stills & Nash.  playing, vocals and sometimes production work landed him with work with over a dozen more musicians including Bruce Springsteen.  In this March of 2019 interview with multi-award winning radio host & producer, Ray White, Shane talks about his latest project with Graham Nash titled - This Path Tonight and his years with Crosby Stills & Nash.  In our featured segment, we spotlight the career of Eddie Money, who passed away on September 13, 2019.  His last album was released just several months before his death - Brand New Day.  For more information about our shows, visit us at Classic Artists Today.

Drummer Chris Frantz co-founded the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band Talking Heads and the Tom Tom Club.  Bassist Tina Weymouth, Chris' wife, joins him in both bands.  While the Heads haven't played since 2002, Tom Tom Club still performs today.  Award winning program director Ray White caught up with Chris in September of 2011, before his show by the ocean in Virginia Beach, to talk about the formation of the Tom Tom Club, the addition of Adrian Belew to the band, the movie Stop Making Sense and the making of the album Genius Of Live.  In our "Showcase Segment," we pay homage to Peter Tork of The Monkees - who recorded two 5x Platinum albums and had nine Top 20 hits with the band.  The Monkees lastest pop album was Good Times.  Peter passed away on February 21, 2019 at the age of 77.  For more information about our show visit us at Classic Artists Today.
