Renaissance, an iconic trend setting band was launched in 1969, combining a fusion of rock, folk, classical and jazz genres.  The bands co-founders included Jim McCarty and Keith Relf, who launched The Yardbirds.  A couple years after forming Renaissance, Jim focused back on music with The Yardbirds and vocalist Annie Haslam carried on as the focal point of the band.  Multi-award winning program director Ray White "Zoomed" with Jim and Annie to talk about their "History of Renaissance" 2025 special performances and touch on the evolution of the band.  A once in a lifetime event with key figures in the band, on this very special episode brought to you by your friends at Classic Artists Today. 

20th Anniversary Show!  Your multi award-winning producer and host Ray White has interviewed nearly 500 world-class musicians over the past two decades.  We're celebrating by sharing interview segments and much more from three of our most listened to shows.  We kick things off with a bassist who played in three highly successful bands... Heart, Firefall and Spirit - Mark Andes (Episode 15).  We'll then roll right into one of the greatest rock vocalists from the U.K. - Paul Carrack (Episode 83).  You'll remember him from the big hit "How Long" by Ace and he was in the band Mike + the Mechanics and Squeeze.  Paul released numerous solo albums, too. Don Barnes, original member of .38 Special, leads the band today on vocals and guitar.  Celebrating 50 years, the band has just released their latest album - Milestone.  Multi-award winning program director Ray White, hooked up with Don in September of 2025 as they released their latest studio album - the first by the band in 21 years.  Don shared his insights on the current band members who've been with him for over two decades, key collaborators on the album, and shared many personal thoughts on the bands' new music.  Be sure to check out Don talking about his solo album and more from .38 Special on Episode 55!  Don and .38 Special are keeping Southern Rock alive and well after all these years!!  In our showcase segment, we feature a tribute to the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer with Bad Company, Mick Ralphs, who passed away on June 23, 2025.  Mick landed on the international music scene back in 1966 with the British band, Mott The Hoople. Celebrating 20 years in 2025,  Classic Artists Today... is still going strong too!!!

Wang Chung was formed in London in 1980, co-founded by Nick Feldman and Jack Hues.  The band has released 7 studio albums with 11 singles that have landed on various music charts.  Multi-award winning program director Ray White caught up with Nick backstage before their show in June of 2025 as part of the "I Want My 80's Tour" with Rick Springfield, John Waite & John Cafferty.  He shared with us the story behind the bands first name - Huang Chung, remaking of several songs that ended up being hits, his time with Culture Club's Jon Moss in the band Promised Land and much more!  Nick also shared his insights on technological changes in the music industry that affected the sound of the band.  Everybody will definitely Wang Chung Tonight on this episode, from the authority on the latest from classic rock and pop bands - Classic Artists Today!

The Wood Brothers, Oliver and Chris, have emerged as one of the innovative American roots music bands on today's scene.  Each concentrated on differant genres of music before coming together to form their band.  Oliver leaned towards Blues and Rhythm & Blues, while Chris was more on the Jazz Fusion side of music.  Together, five of their collective albums have landed on the charts.  In 2018, they were nominated for the Grammys' Best Americana Album award for their One Drop Of Truth project.  The Wood Brothers' brand new CD is Puff of Smoke.  Show producer Ray White talks with the brothers about their early years and how they've built a solid following with their musical union, plus much more.  In our showcase segment, we feature a collaboration between Elton John and multi-Grammy winner Brandi Carlile, whose latest album is Who Believes In Angels?  Also, we feature an amazing award-winning Blues/Southern Rock stalwart, Tommy Castro, who recently released his Closer To The Bone CD.  The best from Roots to Americana to Blues, we've got it on the CAT!  

John Waite launched his career in 1975 as a member of The Babys.  After 5 studio albums the original group disbanded and his solo career was launched.  In 1988, John fronted Bad English, a super group with members that had outstanding careers with Journey and Styx.  In 1995, John returned to his solo work and later joined a tour with Ringo Starr & His All Starr Band.  Producer and host Ray White caught up with John back in 2011 to talk about his then current album Rough & Tumble, the groups Bad English and The Babys and he shared his insights on Ringo.  John's latest project is an EP titled Anything.  In our showcase segment we look back at the career of Larry Lee, an awesome vocalist and multi-instrumentalist who was best known for his work with the Ozark Mountain Daredevils.  Larry was also in several other bands including Vinyl Kings, Beyond Reach, Jimmy Buffet's Coral Reefer Band and he released several solo albums, too.  His work as a producer, included projects for Alabama, K.T. Oslin, Juice Newton and dozens more.  Larry passed away on May 10, 2025.  Great vocalists are featured on this episode from The CAT!

Mark Farner was co-founder/singer/guitarist for Grand Funk Railroad who were founded in 1969.  With Grand Funk he had 6 Platinum and 3 Gold records from 1969 to 1975.  In 1976, Mark went on to release 7 solo albums including his latest Closer To My Home that dropped in 2024.  In our May of 2025 interview with Mark, multi-award winning program director Ray White delves into many of his career highlights going back to his breakthrough in the music industry, up to talking about his latest album release.  In our showcase segment we also feature a band that launched their career in the late 1960's...Jethro Tull whose brand new project is titled Curious Remnant.  Don't miss this special "Back From The 1960's" episode brought to you by your friends at Classic Artists Today!

Cy Curnin has been the frontman for The Fixx since they were formed in 1980.  One of the few "classic" bands with their originial members today, they have produced a Platinum and Gold albums in their careers, with 16 songs landing on various singles charts.  Multi-award winning program director Ray White sat down backstage with Cy in April of 2025 to talk about major events during the career of the band, his latest solo EP - My Own Worst Enemy, the latest album by The Fixx - Every Five Seconds and other awesome happenings.  In our showcase segment we continue to focus on bands that launched in the 1980's featuring the latest on Depeche Mode, who in 2023 dropped Memento Mori and The Call who uncovered songs from back in the day and recently released them as The Lost Tapes.  We're back from the 80's on this episode, from Classic Artists Today!

Brad Gillis has been the guitarist for Night Ranger since they were formed in 1982.  Throughout the years, the band has released over a dozen studio albums and collectively had two Platinum and three Gold releases.  On Part Two of our interview with Brad (you'll find Part One on Episode 10) he touches on his early years in music, work with "The Prince of Darkness,"  Night Ranger's 2011 major tour and album Somewhere In California.  Night Ranger's latest studio album is titled ATBPO.  The great Alex Lifeson of Rush is featured in our showcase segment.  His new band is Envy of None and their latest album is Stygian Wavz.  Join your award-winning host, Ray White, as we're having' a jammin' good time on this edition of Sittin' In With The CAT!

Emerson Hart co-founded Tonic in 1993 and is their lead vocalist and plays rhythm guitar.  The band has received two Grammy award nominations and has a Platinum album to their credit.  Tonic's latest release is a single titled "To Be Loved."  On the solo front, Emerson has released 3 solo albums.  His latest single is "I Look For You."  Reaching back in our archives, multi-award winning program director Ray White caught up with Emerson in May of 2015 before his solo performance in Myrtle Beach, SC to talk about the transition from the band to his solo work, differences between his music with Tonic and his solo work, his Beauty In Despair solo album, the latest with Tonic and much, much more.  In our showcase segment we feature Toad The Wet Sprocket's front man Glen Phillips whose latest release is There Is So Much Here.  We cover the newer "classic" artists on this epiosde of The CAT!

Duane Betts, guitarist/singer/songwriter, heads up his band Duane Betts and Palmetto Motel and is a co-founder of The Allman-Betts Band.  He is the son of the late Allman Brothers Band's co-founder, Dickey Betts.  Throughout the years you'd find Duane in various bands including Dawes, Puddle of Mudd, Whitestarr, Jamtown and Dickey Betts & Great Southern.  Multi-award winning program director Ray White caught up with Duane out on tour with Little Feat in October of 2024 who touched on his early career highlights, being the son of a legendary rock star and his recent albums - Wild and Precious Life and Bless Your Heart.  In our showcase segment we feature the frontman from "that little ole band from Texas," ZZ Top's Billy F. Jeff Pilson, bassist & keyboardist for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band Foreigner, has held down the bottom for the band for over 20 years.  In high demand by other groups during his career, you'll also find him recording and/or touring with other bands including Dokken, Revolution Saints, The End Machine, Black Swan and others.  In Part 2 of our interview with Jeff, multi-award winning program director Ray White caught up with him in August of 2024 to talk about the future of Foreigner, The End Machine's The Quantum Phase album and Black Swan's latest release Generation Mind.  Be sure to listen to Part 1 of our interview with Jeff on Episode 184.  A lotta rockin' and a little roll on this edition of the CAT!  

Jimi Haha is the frontman for the band Jimmie's Chicken Shack that launched in 1993 in Baltimore, MD.  His career took off after signing with Elton John's Rocket Records in 1996.  The band blends their alternative style with rock and funk to produce their driving sound.  They've toured with 311, Live, Everclear, Fuel and others.  In September of 2024, Ray White interviews Jimi and touched on the bands history with various record labels, the "Haha" name, their latest album 2econds, his Jarflys band and plans for 2025.  In our showcase segment we feature the most popular American band from the 1990's, Pearl Jam whose latest album is Dark Matter.  We close out our show with a group that has 2 Platinum and 4 Gold albums, 311, whose new release is titled Full Bloom.  Rock music at the core, on this edition from your rockin' friends at the CAT!

Joe Bonamassa is constantly listed towards the top of the lists of the best guitarists in the world.  At the age of twelve he opened for the legendary B.B. King and was introduced to the world.  Nominated for three Grammy Awards, Joe's won numerous other awards especially in the Blues world.  Multi-award winning program director Ray White connected with him via telephone in August of 2024 to talk about his Live At The Hollywood Bowl album, playing concerts at many of the world famous concert halls, his activities during COVID, his latest with Black Country Communion (who recently released "V") and much, much more.  Check out more from Joe on Episode 19.  In our showcase segment, we look back at highlights of another excellent guitarist -John Sykes, who played with Thin Lizzy and Whitesnake.  He succumbed to cancer in December of 2024.  We have superb rock guitarists on this episode, brought to you by your friends at Classic Artists Today.  Let 'em rip! 

Bill Payne is an accomplished Keyboardist/Singer/Songwriter who co-founded Little Feat in 1969.  He's also worked and recorded with the elite in the Rock and Roll industry including Bob Seger, Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor and even Pink Floyd - along with dozens others.  In the early 2000's Bill reunited with The Doobie Brothers (where you'll find him playing on 9 albums throughout the years) and was on the road with the band at the beginning of their 50th year Reunion Tour.  With Little Feat, they recently added 2 new members of the band and recorded Sam's Place, an album that's currently up for a Grammy award.  Multi-award winning program director Ray White caught up with Bill before he took the stage in October of 2024 to talk about his recent work with the Doobies, Little Feat's Sam Clayton's expanded role on their latest release and other album insights.  In our showcase segment we feature the great one - Eric Clapton, whose latest album is Meanwhile.  The heart of Rock and Roll, right here on The CAT!

Elliott Yamin in 2006 was a finalist on the 5th season of American Idol.  He released his self-titled album in 2007 that peaked at #3 on the Billboard 200.  His single "Wait For You" obtained platinum certification.  Elliott has had 5 solo albums land on the charts throughout his career.  In recent years you can find Elliott performing and touring with the Lao Tizer Band and Special EFX All-Stars.  His latest recordings can be found on Lao Tizer Band's Amplify album, released in 2024.  Multi-award program director Ray White caught up with Elliott before he hit the stage in June of 2024 to talk about his career highlights and recent work with Lao Tizer and Chieli Minucci.  Our showcase segment features three amazing musicians/bands who also has recent releases.  Daryl Hall with D, Norah Jones with Visions and Guster with Ooh La La.  This show "pops" as we launch into 2025, here on the CAT!
