Black Stone Cherry was formed in 2001 by childhood friends who have released 8 rockin' studio albums every since. Nearly 20 singles have landed on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart. Born and raised in Kentucky, their sound is Southern Rock with a harder edge. Multi-award winning program director Ray White caught up with co-founders Chris Robertson and John Fred Young on their tour bus before a show in June of 2023. The guys provided insights on their music career, the magic of June 4th and their brand new album Screamin' At The Sky. In our showcase segment, we feature the Blues Rock & Boogie band Foghat, who also have a new album, Sonic Mojo, dropping soon! We finish out our show remembering former UFO member and co-founder of Whitesnake, Bernie Marsden, who passed away on August 24, 2023. Get strapped in...we'll rock you on this episode of Classic Artists Today's "Sittin' in with the CAT"!
Artimus Pyle was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006 as the drummer for Lynyrd Skynyrd. His excellent, straight ahead, drumming can be found on 7 of the bands albums. In addition, Artimus has released a handful of solo albums with his Artimus Pyle Band. He was among the survivors of the tragic 1977 plane crash that killed the bands front man - Ronnie Van Zant and others. In Ray White's July of 2023 interview with Artimus, he talked about how he obtained his first name, his time with Skynyrd and his upcoming album. He wrote the documentary movie Steet Survivors: The True Story of the Lynyrd Skynyrd Plane Crash, that was released in 2020. In our showcase segment we pay tribute to Gary Rossington, Lynyrd Skynyrd's founding member and guitarist/songwriter, who passed away on March 5, 2023. He was the longest surviving original member of the band. Gary also led the Rossington - Collins Band who had a Top 20 Billboard album in 1980 titled Anytime, Anyplace, Anywhere, that garnered a Gold Record award. The icons of Southern Rock...we have them on The CAT!
